Greetings From Thailand: Shrines and Shacks
The first thing that struck me about Thailand was the architecture. I, being me, was in awe and would literally hold up the group to stop, stare, admire, and of course take pictures of all that I was seeing. I was obsessed with the variety and juxtaposition of the types of architecture weaved throughout the city. There were colorful buildings, wood carved details, metallic embellishments, and more. Every corner turned, there was something new to gawk at.
Chaing Mai is sprinkled with temples, —but when I say “sprinkled,” it’s more as if you tried to gingerly tap out a few sprinkles onto your ice cream and instead the whole lid comes off and your bowl is filled with more sprinkles than ice cream —every one interesting in its own right. There were small temples, big temples, and temples made completely out of silver.
Rather than drone on and on about the beautiful sights, here is a collection of images I captured so you can see for yourself.
