Greetings From California: From Pier to Pier

Hello all! Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy my first post!

I recently took an amazing vacation to California. My best friend, Kelly, and I drove Highway 1 from San Diego to San Francisco. Of course, being the fashion junky I am, I knew I'd have to pack some Cali worthy outfits! One of my favorite outfits from the trip was this little gypsy number, if you will.

The skirt is from Free People and I actually bought it specifically for this trip. But of course I still love and wear it every chance I get! I paired the skirt with this loose, dark grey, cropped top I had from Forever 21. I decided to tie the top in a knot so it would hide the detail on the top of skirt. Finally I finished the look with a gold and turquoise statement necklace, Steve Madden sandals (because walking around in booties was not an option that day), and a simple leather cross body bag from Target.

Kelly and I spent the day at Venice Beach exploring the pier and of course walking the boardwalk. We bought some fun sunnies and satisfied our ice cream craving all while admiring the local art. We knew we had to get a picture with the famous Venice sign but the placement of the sign along with heavy traffic made it seem almost impossible. We had the idea to try and take our pictures while crossing the crosswalk. We waited for the "walk" sign to flash and the photo shoot was on! The results were pretty awesome. We each got great shots, including Kelly and I's favorite picture of me from the whole trip! (below) There were even two guys who watched our picture taking technique and decided to test it out for themselves! They shot us a thumbs up afterwards as a sort of "Thanks for the great idea," and we went on our way.

We spent the night at the Santa Monica Pier, which for those of you who didn't know (like Kelly and I) is just a few blocks from Venice Beach! We made it over to Santa Monica just in time for sunset. It was beautiful. Being from the East Coast, seeing the West Coast sunsets was truly magical. It never got old.

After we washed our feet of the sand, we went to Pacific Park- LA's only admission- free amusement park! Now, I am such an oxymoron because I am afraid of heights but I love Ferris wheels. So the only ride we made sure to go on was the Ferris wheel.

After going around about ten times (pretty good right?), we got off and explored the rest of the boardwalk. Taking pictures along the way of course. Finally we ended the night at a food truck event at Abbot Kinney. Which we did hit up earlier in the day for some great shopping! By the way, Abbot's Habit really does have some "damn good coffee!" They had the best vanilla hazelnut latte of all the coffee shops we went to in California.

Overall, this was the perfect LA day for us.
